‘I am afraid I have locked myself out.’

[English version]

While travelling, it sometimes happens that as soon as you have left your room and closed the door, you realise you have left your room key in the room. When that happens, just go down to the hotel reception ( or in American English ‘front’) and explain the situation in English, saying something like: ‘Well, I have left my room key in my room.’ Such setence is perfectly understandable, but the following expression is one of the fixed phrases that you often come across in the English-speaking countries:

‘I am afraid I have locked myself out.

Well, the above English sentence is very simple, but to the point, isn’t it? Of course, it is always best not to lock yourself out in the hotel you are staying, but just in case, learn this expression for future use!
